No plant is chosen before the soil report.

A Kyiv and Lviv oblast studio working in hardiness zones 5b to 6a. We record soil texture, pH, slope and aspect in summer and in winter, then specify only what the site can hold.

Service ledger

Four stages, in the order we work them

No plant is specified until the site report records soil texture, pH, slope and aspect, measured in summer and winter. Each row lists the season it runs in, the hardiness zone it is written for, and the published starting range in UAH.

  1. 01

    Site survey and soil report

Soil texture, pH, slope and aspect logged plot by plot. Common on new cottage-settlement plots in Kyiv and Lviv oblast, where compacted fill sits above the topsoil.

From 4 500 UAH, credited against the design fee within 60 days

    Apr–Nov Zone 5b–6a
  2. 02

    Planting plan and species palette

A botanical-only palette of six to ten species per bed, chosen against the drainage class and aspect recorded in the survey, never against a photograph.

    From 18 000 UAH

    Nov–Mar Zone 5b–6a
  3. 03

    Drainage and ground works

Subsoil correction, levels, and drainage where the survey finds standing water. Plots above 350 m in Lviv oblast usually need the winter variant of this stage.

    From 32 000 UAH

    Apr–Oct Zone 5b–6a
  4. 04

    Planting and first-year care

Planting per the 40/30/30 payment schedule, then establishment visits. The plant warranty covers stock and planting work inside its claim window; winter survival is not something we promise.

    From 26 000 UAH

Hydrangea paniculata Limelight flowering in late summer on a north-facing plot in Kyiv oblast

Hydrangea paniculata ‘Limelight’

Recorded on a north-facing plot in Kyiv oblast, zone 5b, on loam over compacted fill. It appears in planting plan 24-07 after drainage was corrected in the spring; without that correction the species is not offered.

Book a site survey

No plant is specified until the site report is written. Soil texture and pH, slope and aspect, measured summer and winter sun hours, drainage and the hardiness zone come first, because a palette chosen before those readings is a guess with a maintenance bill attached.

Soil texture
Silt, sand and clay fractions read at three depths on the plot itself, never from a regional map.
pH
Measured in water and in KCl, so the lime demand of the beds and the acid tolerance of the planting are stated as numbers.
Slope and aspect
Percent grade plus compass bearing, which decide terracing, mow lines and where cold air settles overnight.
Sun hours
Logged twice, in June and in December, so a bed is not planned for summer light it loses by November.
Drainage
Percolation check and a note on any correction needed, which on new cottage-settlement plots is common.
Hardiness zone
Kyiv oblast plots usually read 5b to 6a. Plots in Lviv oblast above 350 m are recorded half a zone colder.

The survey fee is 4 500 UAH and is credited against the design fee when a design is commissioned within 60 days. Winter survival is never promised by any supplier, including this studio.

What can be done in your garden, and when

Survey before palette. No plant is specified until the site report records soil texture, pH, slope and aspect, measured in summer and in winter. The windows below are the ones the studio works to across Kyiv, Lviv and Odesa oblasts.

Survey, planting and maintenance windows by season, service stage and oblast
Window Service stage Oblast and zone Field note
Spring Late March to mid April Site survey and soil sampling Kyiv 5b to 6a, Lviv 5b to 6a Sample pits open while the profile is still moist, so drainage is judged before meltwater clears.

Late spring May to early June Planting container-grown stock Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa Root balls are irrigated in place within 48 hours of setting.
Summer June to August Irrigation commissioning and formative pruning Odesa 6b to 7a, Kyiv 5b to 6a Peak survey and design season. Planting pauses unless container stock is under contract.
Autumn September to early November Bare-root and specimen planting Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa The widest window of the year, held open while soil temperature still allows root establishment.
Winter November to February Design work and dormant pruning Lviv 5b to 6a, Kyiv 5b to 6a Plots above 350 m in Lviv oblast are surveyed where snow cover allows.

The 4 500 UAH survey fee is credited against the design fee within 60 days. Planting follows the 40/30/30 payment schedule. The plant warranty covers the stated claim window only, and winter survival cannot be promised.
